So, it's more like a scorching wildfire kind of Christmas this year. It's hard to believe that it was actually 80 degrees on Christmas day. There are 70+ wildfires being faught in the northern part of this state! At least I have snow waiting for me when I get back home!
Being with family and friends has been fabulous! I've seen mostly family and was dissapointed that I couldn't get in touch with some of my friends while they were in town. I'm having dinner tonight with my Itty Bitty! I'm so proud of her; she graduated from undergrad this month!! Rock on, Little!
I received way too many gifts for Christmas. I, of course, am grateful for them all. Thank you everyone!!
P.S. Jeff, my cookies were good, darnit! You can talk about the cake all you want because, yes, it was quite dry. Next time I'll make you some chocolate chip cookies!

My "Dream Come True"
Benjamin and I were sitting in the truck at Sonic eating our food when a honeybee flew into the window and decided she wanted what was in my mouth. I've never seen anything quite like it. She tried getting into my mouth, which was closed, and then she crawled all over my face. Once again, she returned to my mouth. When she realized she wasn't actally going to get in, she headed for my ear.
That was enough for me! I certainly didn't want to have to get a bee out of my ear, so I swatted her out the window!
Benjamin was enjoying the whole show. It was his idea to call it my "Dream Come True". Very funny.
I am still very fond of honeybees and welcome their company, as long as they don't sting me when I'm trying to be nice. :o)

Merry Christmas to Me!
Benjamin bought us new cell phones!! Yay! I bought my old one used about 4 years ago. Now I can make more than one call without losing battery power! And, I can actually hear the person calling me because the volume is loud enough.
The new phone has speaker phone, a video camera, an MP3 player, &c. I'm pretty excited about it! Merry Christmas to ME!!

Home for the Holidays!
I've made it home and feel very good about not having to worry about HOMEWORK! I can simply relax and enjoy my family and friends.
So far, I've been shopping, went to see my Itty Bitty graduate from college, and had one family Christmas party. Now it's time for more shopping. :o( I'm not much of a shopper, but I love having it all done. I've gotta reach that point somehow.
I've got only 3 family Christmas parties to go...Wish me luck!

Elizabethtown & Home
Sheryl and I went to see "Elizabethtown" at the cheap theatre tonight. We enjoyed it, and I must admit I've never quite taken notice of Orlando Bloom's gorgeous arms before...they're yummy! Otherwise, I still prefer Johnny Depp.
There's a glimpse of a Jesus statue in the film somewhere near Arkansas, and it very closely resembles the statue my art professor constructed in Texas about three years back. Now I'm very interested in trying to find out more about this particular statue in the movie. I love road trips! It only takes about 24 hours to drive from Houston to Buffalo, would ya believe?!
I also packed today and am very ready to go home for the holidays! It'll be great to see everyone!! I can hardly wait! Also, I've got a little cold and want my mama to take care of me. Nobody can do it quite like she can.

My New Place
Sheryl, Lisa, and I visited my new place today! It's great because it's furnished, and all I have to pack are the essentials. The best thing about the apartment is that it is directly across the street from guess what?!...a library!!
I'm very excited about getting to know a new city, and I know Benjamin's overjoyed about beginning his new job! The people I've met are super kind, and I know I'll have no trouble making new friends!
Although I miss my family and friends back home, I'm very ready to take the next step here in New York. I can't express how happy I am to be done with school! This doesn't mean I'll never return for a doctorate, it simply means I'm taking a break, which could last a long while.
P.S. Benne and I are on speaking terms again. :o) He's too cute to refuse for too long!

Troubles with Benne :o(

For those of you who really know cats, you will agree with me that they can be down right vindictive. Such is the case with my beloved Benne...AKA Bad Bad Benne.
I assume he was very angry with me last night because he's never taken it upon himself to be so viciously cruel before. He managed his way into my closet, which has doors that I have trouble opening, and decided to choose the most sentimental garment he could possibly find and destroy it. He was very happily curled up on my Aran sweater that Benjamin bought me from Ireland when I discovered he had a surprise for me...
The new version of the sweater made me think that demon-possessed Goldilocks invaded my sweet kitten's body and went to town on my precious gift saying, "Oh no, this hole's much to small, I'd better make another one. But wait, this one's much to big...Now this one's just right!"
Needless to say, I am very hurt by Benne's actions and have found a way to lock my closet so that not even I can get in unless I remove the curtain rod holding it shut. This makes me question whether I should keep the cat at all. I mean really, what has he done for me besides ruin my home and cause me to bleed??
He'd better be on his very best behavior if he thinks he's moving with me to Syracuse. I wonder how much he'd like staying behind in Buffalo in the middle of winter? I put him out in the snow for about half an hour today. Aside from the shivering, he seemed to be doing just fine...
